Some secrets are still hidden…

I still felt half asleep when we stopped.

We were driving through Alberta on the Landmine tour.
The routing was kind of random. Edmonton to Saskatoon to Calgary.
Two rental Pacificas, just leapfrogging each other on the highway.
I got an Uncle Burger and just stood there for a second, kinda out of it.

For long drives and feeling a bit out of it.

I didn’t know if it was gonna work out.

We were driving into Penticton for a show.
The Dream Café fell through, so we moved it to The Hub on Martin last minute.
Pizza, that weird newer frankenstein movie, Hot Tub and runs around a track.

For when things don’t go to plan but still work out.

Some pieces are missing.

I don’t know why I thought I needed to go anywhere else.

I was in Cape Breton on “tour.”
Played a double header—Big Spruce in the afternoon, then Breton Brewery.
Snuck in a hike up Blueberry Mountain near the Skyline trail.
Just one of those spots that reminds you what’s actually here.

For when you forget what’s already around you.

The sky looked different that day.

I was staying at my friend Peter’s farm in Margaree.
Alone in a cabin for a couple weeks, working on a record.
I’d go for walks in the afternoon, trying to learn trees.
That day the smoke rolled in and everything turned kinda violet.

For quiet days and writing something new.

There’s more to this…

I made him turn the van around.

We were heading back from Saskatoon on the Landmine tour.
Taylor was driving and I saw two horses just standing there, perfectly still.
Had to turn around to get the photo.
Didn’t say much, just kinda stood there for a minute.

For when something small makes you stop.

Some pieces are missing.
